the new release book tag

Hello, friends! Hope everyone’s having a fantastic day. I’m back with another book tag post. This time, it’s all about 2021 book releases. One of my goals this year is to read as many new releases as possible. Ever since the start of 2021, I’ve collated a list of new releases I’m interested in and have been slowly checking books off it. Out of the 277 books I currently have, as of end September, I’ve read 112 which, I personally think, is pretty incredible. 🙂

Thank you to Nadia @The Journeying Bibliophile for tagging me. This tag gave me a chance to reflect on the 2021 releases that I’ve read and search for new ones to look forward to.

Prompts

1. A NEW RELEASE YOU’VE ALREADY READ

A recent new release I read this September is Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber! Absolutely loved Jacks’s character but there was no knowing what other things he was scheming. I wouldn’t describe Evangeline as naive but she sincerely believe in happy endings and it’s something that propels her throughout the book.

2. A NEW RELEASE THAT’S ALREADY COME OUT BUT YOU HAVEN’T READ YET

The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna, Luck of the Titanic by Stacey Lee, and Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé. All of these were released in the first half of the year but I still haven’t read them yet.

3. A NEW RELEASE YOU JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT

Tahira in Bloom by Farah Heron is coming out this November. I can’t wait to read this after enjoying the author’s other book, Accidentally Engaged.

4. A NEW RELEASE YOU’RE EXCITED ABOUT FROM ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS

Finally read The Silvered Serpents this September so I’m definitely hyped for the finale, The Bronzed Beasts by Roshani Chokshi. Recently, the anthology edited by Rick Riordan, The Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities: New Stories About Mythic Heroes, was released. Many authors that I liked are participating too. Lastly, can’t forget Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong. Not sure how my favorite lovers-to-enemies duo will do by the end of the duology.

5. A NEW RELEASE YOU’RE EXCITED ABOUT FROM A NEW-TO-YOU AUTHOR

Ali Hazelwood’s The Love Hypothesis which everyone’s raving about on Twitter ever since its release. Also, Jade Fire Gold by June C.L. Tan, who grew up in Singapore, which is inspired by elements in xianxia stories.

6. A NEW RELEASE YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN

Obviously there will be quite a few but I don’t remember their names. Not going to bother about searching for them too.

7. A NEW RELEASE YOU WANT TO PICK UP SOON

Been meaning to read Made in Korea by Sarah Suk for a few months now. Katie Zhao’s second release this year, Last Gamer Standing, was released in September as well so it’s on the top of my list.

8. A NEW RELEASE THAT HASN’T COME OUT YET BUT YOU CAN’T WAIT TO READ

Ahhhhhh!!! How can I not talk about Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee?! It’s probably my most MOST anticipated release of the year. I can’t believe the trilogy will end by November. I’m dying from the tension.

9. A NEW RELEASE WITH AN AMAZING COVER

Got to say, this year’s releases are beautiful. If I had to choose, there are The Mirror Season by Anna-Marie McLemore, The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He, and Lost in the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas. Can’t blame me for loving the purple covers.

10. YOUR FAVORITE NEW RELEASE YOU’VE READ SO FAR THIS YEAR

Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao is a recent release that I’m in love in. Mechas roaming around the Great Wall of China? Yes please. Also, polyamory >>>> love triangle for the rest of my life.
