9 nov releases: little bit worried about reader’s burnout

Hello everyone! Now that November is here, we are only two months till the new year and honestly, there’s still so many books to read!! I can’t even catch up even though I read relatively fast. Sigh. Anyway, while I’m bummed that I wouldn’t be able to read all the books in the world within my lifetime, here are some November releases that I’m highly anticipating.

In November, Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s English release of The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System, N.K. Jemisin’s The World We Make, and Sue Lynn Tan’s Heart of the Sun Warrior will be ending their respective series. Susan Dennard, Rou Bao Bu Chi Rou will be releasing their first book in a series with The Luminaries and The Husky and His White Cat Shizun Volume 1 respectively. Authors with standalone coming out include Katie Zhao, Chloe Liese, and Shea Ernshaw. Meanwhile, Lyssa Kay Adams will be continuing the Bromance Book Club series.

In comparison to the other months, November has relatively less releases which I hope will be a blessing in disguise so that I can catch up on more books that I did in the past few months. I’m a bit worried at that I’m feeling burnt out from reading so much. As of mid-October, I’ve surpassed reading 350 books. Hopefully, I won’t suffer a huge burnout, if it eventually gets there.

Always, have a good month ahead!

the scum villain’s self-saving system volume 4 – moxiang tongxiu

series: the scum villain’s self-saving system #4
November 1st 2022 by Seven Seas Entertainment
age range: adult
genre: fantasy, romance
rep: chinese, m/m couple

A man reborn as a villain in a fantasy novel series ends up accidentally romancing the male protagonist in this fan-favorite tale. Don’t miss this final book (Volume 4), which contains bonus stories that explore the past and future of beloved characters!

What happens after an epic tale ends? This collection of eleven bonus stories picks up days after the end of Volume 3, and follows adventures and relationships into the future…and back into the past. Readers also get a glimpse into another world, where Luo Binghe was never saved by his beloved teacher—unless he can claim this world’s Shen Qingqiu for himself. Other tales recount the riotous history of fan favorites Shang Qinghua and Mobei-Jun, the bittersweet romance of Luo Binghe’s parents, and the untold tragedy of the original scum villain himself.

🐚 I’m ready for the last book for the SVSSS series! I need to read the Chinese version too.

a very merry bromance – lyssa kay adams

series: bromance book club #5
 November 1st 2022 by Berkley
age range: adult
genre: contemporary, romance

Country music’s golden boy Colton Wheeler felt the most perfect harmony when he was with Gretchen Winthrop. But for her, it was a love him and leave him situation. A year later, Colton is struggling to push his music forward in a new direction. If it weren’t about to be the most magical time of year and the support of the Bromance Book Club, he’d be wallowing in self-pity.

It’s hard for immigration attorney Gretchen not to feel a little Scrooge-ish about the excess of Christmas when her clients are scrambling to afford their rent. So when her estranged, wealthy family reaches out with an offer that will allow her to better serve the community, she’s unable to say no. She just needs to convince Colton to be the new face of her family’s whiskey brand. No big deal…

Colton agrees to consider Gretchen’s offer in exchange for three dates before Christmas. With the help of the Bromance Book Club, Colton throws himself into the task of proving to her there’s a spark between them. But Gretchen and Colton will both need to overcome the ghosts of Christmas past to build a future together.

🐚 Thought that the series would’ve ended with book five, but we’re blessed with Colton’s romance!

age range: young adult
genre: fantasy, paranormal

Hemlock Falls isn’t like other towns. You won’t find it on a map, your phone won’t work here, and the forest outside town might just kill you.

Winnie Wednesday wants nothing more than to join the Luminaries, the ancient order that protects Winnie’s town—and the rest of humanity—from the monsters and nightmares that rise in the forest of Hemlock Falls every night.

Ever since her father was exposed as a witch and a traitor, Winnie and her family have been shunned. But on her sixteenth birthday, she can take the deadly Luminary hunter trials and prove herself true and loyal—and restore her family’s good name. Or die trying.

But in order to survive, Winnie enlists the help of the one person who can help her train: Jay Friday, resident bad boy and Winnie’s ex-best friend. While Jay might be the most promising new hunter in Hemlock Falls, he also seems to know more about the nightmares of the forest than he should. Together, he and Winnie will discover a danger lurking in the forest no one in Hemlock Falls is prepared for.

Not all monsters can be slain, and not all nightmares are confined to the dark.

🐚 I’ve read Susan Dennard’s The Witchlands series, so I can’t wait to see what the new series will be about.

a wilderness of stars – shea ernshaw

standalone
November 29th 2022 by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
age range: young adult
genre: paranormal, romance

If magic lives anywhere, it’s in the stars…

Vega has lived in the valley her whole life—forbidden by her mother to leave the safety of its borders because of the unknown threats waiting for her in the wilds beyond. But after her mother dies, and Vega sees the fabled twin stars in the sky, it’s an omen she can no longer ignore, forcing her to leave the protective boundaries of the valley. But the outside world turns out to be much more terrifying than Vega could have imagined. People are gravely sick—they lose their eyesight and their hearing, just before they lose their lives.

What Vega keeps to herself is that she is the Last Astronomer—a title carried from generation to generation—and she is the only one who carries the knowledge of the stars. Knowledge that could hold the key to the cure. And so when locals spot the tattoo on Vega’s neck in the shape of a constellation—the mark of an astronomer—chaos erupts as the threats her mother warned her about become all too real.

Fearing for her life, Vega is rescued by a girl named Cricket who leads her to Noah, a boy marked by his own mysterious tattoos. On the run from the men who are hunting her, Vega, Cricket, and Noah set out across the plains in search of the cure the stars speak of. But as the lines between friend and protector begin to blur, Vega must decide whether to safeguard the sacred knowledge of the astronomer. Or if she will risk everything to try to save them all.

🐚 I’m just gonna go into this blind and be surprised with what Shea Ernshaw is up to next.
